Power Play

(NEW FLORENCE, MO.) As part of a social media promotional campaign, Google is seeking to downplay fears of increased utility rates for the residents of Montgomery County associated with its proposed 1.6 million sq. ft. data center.

The tech giant claims it has that problem solved.

“Google is committed to not adding a penny to existing electric bills for our new neighbors,” a company spokesman said.

“We have a clean, safe plan to create our own power. Nobody should have a meltdown over this.”

At publishing time, ground was being broken for housing for the two technicians who will be permanently employed at the site.
